I like the style. I like the feel. I really enjoy your use of brush stroking for depth and drama. I myself would like to see just a hint more of the face, especially the subject's right cheekbone, and both eyes. But that's just me. You present a good sense of mystery. You leave me wanting more, wanting the back story. That in itself can be good. I'd like to hear what others think about that.

On a technical note; A well fitting cowboy hat, or most any hat, shall follow closer to the facial lines. In other words, follow up the natural line from the cheek bones, up the sides of the brow, and the upward line of the hat shall follow a very natural path from there. Notice how your subject's hat makes accommodation for the hair. That's not natural. The hat, as you've sized it, does work fairly well in this picture, but in truth, it would be down over the eyes. The skull holds the hat up. The hair offers no resistance. That's a good principle to know.

Overall, I like the piece. If possible, I'd rework that hat... and do some more bone studies <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" data-embed-type="emoticon" data-embed-id="391" title=":) (Smile)"/>

I feel that this piece has the potential to be better than - just good.

Thank you for considering my thoughts.
